Following a serious fire on a neighbouring property, Prings cottage, a picturesque period thatch cottage in the heart of Devon suffered partial damage and came under a threat of structural damage from the unstable remains of next door.
Zenith Construction (SW) Ltd were awarded the project and placed as managers working closely with the insurers.
It was clear from the start that the building needed to be secured as a matter of urgency so they set about finding a scaffolding and containment company to do so. Following interviews with three companies Zenith chose 1st Scaffolding ltd and are happy to say they made the right choice.
The challenges presented by the damaged structures in such a busy and well populated area were easily met without fuss. 1st planned the scaffolding and presented the design drawings with supporting calculations in time for checking and signing off; organised the installation of the protection to the overhead power cables, arranged pavement licences and traffic management with DCC and erected and dismantled a safe tidy and very effective scaffolding and temporary roof which served its purpose perfectly well with minimal effect on the occupants and neighbouring properties.
Although the project was moderate in size, 1st treated it as seriously as any major project, and their attitude to safety and planning were admirable.
